The ECA VRT DVD of 2012 was released for public use on 18 September, 2012. The DVD contains the complete selection of the new TV programmes of 2012, as well as all editions of "TV Kieken", which has been shortened to "TVK" since 2013. This article will tell you everything you need to know about the ECA VRT DVD release date, including what it is and why it's important. The ECA VRT DVD is the official release of the TV shows of the VRT, including television films, series and mini-series, documentaries, cartoons and more. It's an important mediatic event every year in Flanders. It contains 10–16 DVDs which can be watched with a DVD player. The most recent editions are only available on the DVD, they cannot be watched online. Since 2013, "TVK" has also been included in the package called "Vlaanderen Vakhandoende". In Flanders, this DVD is mainly used as a screening tool for schools. However, not all schools have a DVD player, so the VRT has put up a streaming service on their website where teachers can watch the shows online. The ECA DVD release is now becoming more and more important for the general public as well. VRT now also makes you able to download your favourite TV shows from its website as well as from iTunes, with the rise of new technological innovations such as smartphones and tablets. In recent years, it became clear that less people watch TV on their TV sets anymore which caused a change for VRT's policy about how to broadcast the ECA DVDs. VRT now offers the latest editions on its website. The first VRT DVD was released in 1996. It contained one disc with 20 audio/video programmes (AWP's), including 18 songs and 2 TV shows, which were screened for the first time, like the travel series "De Zatte Keukenreis." Some AWPs contained songs that could be downloaded separately, for example "De Kleine Jager" (a song by Urbanus) or songs by Daan (the ECA song of 1997). In 1997, the number of programmes increased to 24 with 8 additional songs. In 1998, the DVD included 11 songs and 2 TV shows. In 1999, there were no music AWPs anymore. There were 22 programmes on one disc. In 2000, the number of programmes went down to 21, only 19 because there was an UZA song on it! There was a SBS song as well. In 2001, there were 20 programmes again and a Magritte album - the CD with Vlaanderen Vakhandoende! In 2003, it went back up to 24 programmes and a Zeeuwse avant-pop album. cfa1e77820
